Cuban Christmas cheer is officially a thing. At least for part of the British royal family. It looks like the highlight of this year for the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall was their Cuba travel adventure as their official Christmas card is an image of them riding a vintage MG down Havana’s streets. Casa particular or not we are delighted they chose this Cuban experience as the moment to mark 2019 and maybe you can mark 2020 in a similar way if you embark on a Cuba holiday next year!
The image chosen to wrap up 2019 for royals Prince Charles and his wife Camilla was that of them riding a vintage MG automobile down Havana’s streets as a crowd of onlookers cheered them on. This year has seen the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge tour Havana, down Cuban cocktails enjoy private dance performances and even enjoy tastings of nouvelle Cuban fusion cuisine (with Charles reportedly asking the chef to pack some of his black bean croquettes for the onward flight home and giving him the written recipe). It was not exactly a Cuba holiday for the but the first ever official state visit of a British royal family member. Cuba was a first for both, and a first for a future British king. Not entirely a first for the British royal family though, as former King Edward VIII and his wife Wallis Simpson loved to hang out in Havana’s most exclusive clubs back in the 50s.
Here is this year’s official Christmas card from The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. 🎄

Prince Charles and Camilla’s Havana adventure was a history-making moment that they seem to have treasure and want to share again with the world by putting in the limelight once again as the theme for their Christmas card. We couldn’t be more thrilled that they chose Cuba as
the place that made their year and was the highlight of 2019, despite visiting a lot more countries over the last twelve months.
During their time in Havana they met Cuban entrepreneurs and while they might not have visited a casa particular or paladar, they indeed talked about their support for Cuba’s blossoming private economy.
Casas particulares all over Havana are getting into the Christmas spirit and while Cuba may not be the most Christmassy place in the world, it does its own distinct charm and you will see Christmas trees and decorations put up everywhere, including casas particulares.
From all of us at CubaCasa we want to wish you a very Happy Christmas and also want to extend the good wishes of our casa particular hosts
in Havana and beyond so that yours is a very special Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Whether you’re enjoying a Cuba holiday, planning a Cuba holiday for the new year or considering a stay in a Cuba casa particular in 2020, we want to remind you that our CubaCasas team here in the UK and in Cuba will be thrilled to help you book the authentic Cuba experience you dream of. We’ve got every ingredient to make it one that you’ll never forget!
